"Undercover Roofing Supplies have enjoyed steady growth from their current site at Purdeys Industrial Estate in Rochford for the past 3 and ½ years" stated Jordan Bailey the company's managing director. The original location however was never ideal for the long term plans of the company due to several factors. Firstly, the geographical location at Purdeys is somewhat off the beaten track, and has restricted the collection business, and development of some customers due to the feasibility of the journey out to Rochford. The new location however is "15 minutes from anywhere!" in a much more accessible and central position on the main traffic routes for the whole district. This will enable Undercover to offer its supplies and services to many more customers, not just on an ad-hoc basis when they are in the area, or when their usual suppliers are unable to help, but as their first choice every day.
Secondly, the overall layout of the site made it difficult for us to add more office space to enable the business to expand its number of personnel, and build additional warehouse units to increase in depth additional product lines that needed to be stored inside. As we continued to grow, we rented additional space nearby to keep up with the increasing demands required to service the business. This meant that stock was kept in three different storage yards, an inconvenience that the new site will move us away from. The capacity of the new premises provides Undercover with the space to grow in every aspect thus providing us with the tools to improve our stock range, and customer services over the forthcoming months to the benefit of our business, our suppliers and most importantly our customers.
Lastly, the depot at Purdeys was restricting our ability to increase the capacity of our delivery service, something that we have wanted to do for some time. An additional vehicle would greatly improve lead times for customers and in some instances mean material deliveries can be made next-day. The restrictions in terms of space and set-up are alleviated at the new site and we will be increasing the fleet of LGV vehicles that we operate at the new premises.
